I don't know enough about Godin's new venture to defend it, but from what I do know, how is this particular tactic any different/worse than Get Satisfaction, which also essentially hijacks your customer service unless you pay them to be part of it and participate? And yet, everyone loves them…

Seth is a thought leader, for sure - but the fact that he does not allow comments on his blog is a reflection of insecurity on his part.
